CARE INSTRUCTIONS

HOW TO MAINTAIN AND CARE FOR WOODEN PRODUCTS

All WILD WOOD STORIES products are handmade in our small workshop. Each piece has a one-off shape and a unique natural pattern. All chopping/cutting boards are naturally beautiful, they may contain natural irregularities and discolorations.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

keep all wooden products at least one meter away from a direct source of heat (heaters, radiators, fireplaces etc.)
direct exposure of wooden products to sunlight may lead to loss of the original colour
remove spilled liquids from wooden surfaces as soon as possible.
clean our products using a microfibre cloth
refrain from placing hot or very cold objects directly on wooden surfaces (hot or cold drinks, candles, etc.)

WAX

Avoid placing waxed wooden products anywhere where they can exposed to high levels of relative humidity (e.g. in the bathroom). Water which is not wiped off immediately can lead to the discoloration of wax. On the unfortunate occasion when a discoloration happens, use sandpaper (grit of 240 or more) to smoothen the surface (rub in one direction along the lines of the natural grain), and then apply a new layer of wax. For scratches, cracks or chips, simply fill in these damages with a new layer of wax.

OIL

During day-to-day use, the oil layer gets wiped off or absorbed by the wood. In order to maintain the original colour, oil should be reapplied every two to three months. Simply use a cloth and rub oil by following the natural grain.

Care instructions for chopping/cutting boards:
- wipe the surface with a half-lemon or some vinegar
- after applying a layer of lemon or vinegar, wipe the board with cooking oil (for example linseed or sunflower oil)
- wipe off excess oil (if any) with a paper towel.

WOOD VARNISH

As wood varnish protects WOOD with non-porous layer you can wipe such surfaces with a wet cloth. However we recommend that straight after using a wet cloth you always wipe the surface dry.
